Aes Sedai - Moraine Damodred WoT by endave Aes Sedai - Moraine Damodred WoT by endave
Another Wheel of Time series character.

I was shattered to realize that Moraine actually has brown eyes!! I knew she had dark hair all along but I never caught the fact that she had brown eyes until curiosity got the best of me :( Anyways, she is my most favorite female character in the book and I don't intend to change the way she has looked in my mind for anything lol...plus my wife has blue eyes so I am naturally biased :icongrin--plz:

Hope you guys like the painting!

You can find a compilation of my Wheel of time Fanart so far on this journal Which WoT Character or Scene should I paint next?As most of you have probably noticed, I have taken it upon myself to work on fan art for the Wheel of Time series. I am hoping this will keep my inspired to keep pushing and learning so my art can improve.
So...what characters would you like to see next, and more specifically what scene's in the book. I have only read up to book 6 so I am sort of behind on the curve :(
Feel free to go all out on your ideas...if I can remotely do it, I will give it my best shot. Hoping to get feedback from some of you!

Hopefully you also see some improvements as I keep practicing

Edit: Added texturing to background and cloak base on feedback

Oh I love how you painted her! This is exactly what she looks like to me in my own mind. Imperious, authoritive, knowledgable, slightly spooky and just sheer awesomeness. Really well done! Really, really well done:D.

I really appreciate the comment!! I realize I messed up a few finer details...like her blues eyes and hair color :( But this is exactly how she always looked to me in the books. I am really happy you liked it even thought it isn't an accurate depiction based on how she is described in the books :)

I will probably revisit this painting in the near future. The background, her hair, the cloak....it all needs some love :P

Well, don't fret about the blue eyes. It makes more sense to me that she has blue eyes here. When I think about her description the brown eyes may fit better (cairhienin disliking anything too colourfull or flashy, it may follow that everything about them is just a bit 'plain'), but I always pictured her as a radiant being, always filling a room with her presence through sheer force of will. I think you achieved just that in her look. I really like the update you gave her by the way! How about adding the blue moonstone she often wears on her forehead? I think that would make her maybe a bit more recognizeable (is that a word in English?).

Absolutely! I am going to be adding the blue moonstone along with some semblance of horses and perhaps make the blight trees look more "blighty?" ...definitely not an English word lol. My greatest struggle with painting her was trying to capture that ageless look. I think I kept painting her face over and over again until I randomly decided to use a soft brush and voila!!

Amazing how a newbie like me stumbles across the right solution sometimes ;) Thanks a lot for the compliment and the input on improving the painting!

:D ah well that's how one learns I guess. I feel like that often enough when photographing things and the result is totally now what I expected it to be (either good or bad). I'm going to get back to you on your new and definitely improved painting of Moiraine, so I'll comment on that deviation.

I'm on book 4, and i still hate her. And yes, she does have brown eyes, though i often think she has blue, just as you did. And then as I'm reading along it mentions her brown eyes and im like oh yeah.

I can't believe you have Moraine...she is one of the strongest willed and level headed female characters :) At least she doesn't throw tantrums anyway lol!

I don't like her because she just uses everyone. It's inhuman. She THINKS she knows what's best, but I see Rand do things his way, and so far it's been working for him. She wants to guide him, but she isnt honest with him, so how will she ever do that? Lol, every single character besides Egwene and Elayne just wants her out of their hair.

Yea, but I can relate to why she is that way. If you have had just one purpose for 20-30yrs and that purpose involved making sure the "devil" in this case the dark one doesn't come out, you would want to make sure nothing gets screwed up. That usually involves using people and being secretive about your plans so no one can ruin it :)

I still like her a lot. She is one of if not my favorite female character.

Well, i like her much better now that she is "dead" (i dont believe it yet, but dont tell me if im right or wrong) because she figured out that she CANT force Rand to do w/e she wants. Like she stopped trying to control him. Of her own free will. Which is more than most other Aes Sedai can say. And she also "died" for  him. So i think that is worth something.
